Geography
Geographical Location
Tittling forms the heart of the Three Burgenland and is located in the region between the Danube Forest Passau (23 km ) and the Bavarian Forest National Park. The municipal area extends to a height of 400 to 600 meters west of the Ilz (river), one of the last wild rivers in Bavaria. The place is known for its quarries where the granite is mined Tittlinger. The relatively high position of the place on the slope of the 576 m high Blümersberges ensures that this is almost all year round free of fog. At foehn days the view from Blümersberg extends to the chain of the Alps.

There is only the district Tittling.
History
1155 sure is a noble residence documented the place. The market Tittling now in the district of Lower Bavaria belonged to the Counts of Taufkirchen until bought it in 1290 the Bavarian duke. Thus, the place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark whose seat was Tittling. The conveniently located place has been around for 1322 market rights with important features right, still four times a year called Kirtas (markets) are organized. A heavy fire on April 17, 1803 devastated the market and demolished the castle and the Baroque interior of the Gothic parish church of St. Vitus. From 1890 to 1892, the Neo-Gothic parish church was built of granite Tittlinger and consecrated on 21 September 1893 by Bishop Michael Rampf. It has a 72 meter high tower. The old church was canceled.
1945 Tittling was shelled by the Americans after the war there was in place a large prison camp until 1946. Market and in the community incurred heavy damage, but Tittling recovered quickly developed a healthy economy and was recognized as a possible means center. In 1978 the municipality in the competition " Our guest Bavaria " a recognition of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economy and Transport and finally in 1982 the title of " nationally recognized resort ".

The market council has been working for the municipal election on 2 March 2008 as follows:
- CSU: 8 seats ( 48.0 % of the vote )
- UW: 4 seats ( 26.8 % of the vote )
- SPD: 4 seats ( 25.2 % of the vote )
Mayor
Mayor has since 14 February 2012, the proposal of the CSU candidate, Helmut Willmerdinger. He won the re-run election on February 12, 2012, compared Roswitha Toso of the citizens' initiative " Free citizens Tittling " with 54 percent of the vote. Because CSU incumbent Waldemar Bloch resigned two weeks later provided runoff, without giving reasons, the ballot had to be repeated. Tittling is located on the main road of 85 rain (City) (40 km ) or Grafenau (18 km) to Passau (23 km), which is well developed in the direction of Passau. About the feeder road, the motorway can be reached in around 15 km 3 (exit Aicha vorm Wald ).
The market is also due to the former railway line Deggendorf - Kalteneck ( - Passau) and had the highest station of this line. Since the spring of 2006 located on this route of the Danube Bicycle Trail Ilz of Hengersberg about Eging am See to Kalteneck. The bike path is used in winter for cross -country skiing trail.
