Titus Julius Priscus

Lucius (?) Priscus († 250/251 ) was a Roman governor and rival emperors.

Priscus was probably governor ( Praeses ) of the province of Thrace. He defended in the year 250/251 Philippopolis against the Goths under Kniva, but could not hold the city despite brave resistance. After taking the city (second half of the year 250 or early 251) raised the Goths Priscus to rival emperor to fight Emperor Decius better. Declared a public enemy by the Senate ( hostis ), Priscus was soon killed it. Priscus fell the damnatio memoriae.

Most likely, with Titus Julius Priscus Priscus, the governor of Thracia to identify 249/50.

Priscus is not identical to the praetorian prefect under Emperor Gaius Julius Priscus Philip the Arab.
