Titus van Rijn

Titus van Rijn ( born September 22, 1641 Amsterdam, † beginning September 1668 ibid.) survived as one of the four children of Rembrandt is and Saskia van Uylenburgh the child's age. Titus occurs several times as a model in Rembrandt's paintings and studies.

Before Rembrandt's bankruptcy in 1656 that transferred the ownership of his house to Titus. This began with his stepmother Hendrickje Stoffels one specializing in Rembrandt's works of art trade. Titus left post at the insistence of his father in his age of 15 a will in which he appointed Rembrandt as sole heir.

1668 Titus married Magdalena van Loo ( 1641-1669 ). Her father Jan, a silversmith was a brother of his uncle Gerrit van Loo, lawyer in the community Het Bildt. They lived in a house on the Singel with his mother. From this marriage a child is born: Titia ( 1669-1715 ).

Titus van Rijn died in early September 1668 at the age of 27 from the plague. He was buried in the Westerkerk. His wife and his mother died a year later.
