Titusville is a small town on the Oil Creek River in Crawford County, northwestern Pennsylvania, United States. The place Founded in 1796, belonged to the census of 2000, 6146 inhabitants. A campus of the University of Pittsburgh is located in Titusville.

On August 27, 1859 in Titusville, which was initially only a transit point for the timber industry, by Edwin L. Drake 's first commercial oil well in history, according to a still earlier bore in Baku on the Caspian Sea, drilled. Drake, thereby founding the city's reputation as the birthplace of the oil age.

The Drake Well Museum in a flood plain on the outskirts of documents the first successful drilling for oil by Colonel Edwin Drake. It consists of a small tourist center, a museum with historical artifacts and photographs, a forge and the actual oil well. There are regularly offered demonstrations. A few barrels of oil per year are still promoted from the source and packaged in vials, sold mainly to tourists. Built on the Source wooden pump house is a replica of 1945; the original was a few months after commissioning victim to the flames.
