Tlatilco

Tlatilco is an archaeological site in the Valley of Mexico, whose beginnings are evidence for settlement in 1500 BC.

Famous and namesake of the place was its typical clay figurines ( pretty ladies ), which represented mainly women with different costumes and hairstyles. These were probably used in fertility ceremonies. Figures of this type were also found in many other places of the Mexican highlands. In the 500 explored graves were also found objects that testify to a cultural influence of the Olmecs. Around 300 Tlatilco was abandoned.
