Tlos

Tlos ( Lycian tlawa ) is an ancient town in Lycia, in south-western Turkey in the Xanthos valley.

The settlement site was inhabited in the Bronze Age and could be the same as mentioned in Hittite sources place Tlawa or Dalawa. The city was one of the six largest cities in the Lycian Federation. While the city was in the Byzantine era bishopric, but their importance waned. Last inglorious highlight was the construction of a winter residence and barracks in the fortress construction on the ancient ruins of the Acropolis by those regarded as robbers Kanlı Ali Aga in the 19th century.
