Toad in the hole
Toad in the hole (such as " toad in the hole " ) is a traditional dish of the English kitchen. It consists of sausages that are comparable to the baked Yorkshire pudding in the oven in a batter.
To prepare the sausages are first browned in a frying pan and a batter of flour and baking powder ( mixed in England as a self raising flour available ), milk, eggs and fat produced. The dough is placed in a greased ovenproof dish, the sausages and possibly even stewed onion rings are put into it and baked everything until the dough has risen and a golden brown crust.
Served toad in the hole usually with side dishes such as mashed potatoes and steamed peas and mustard, or a dark, bound gravy ( gravy ).
