Tobermory, Mull

Tobermory is the main town of the Isle of Mull, an island of the Inner Hebrides, off the north west coast of Scotland, part of the Argyll & Bute Council. Founded in 1788 as a fishing port, Tobermory is located in the northeast of the island and has about 990 inhabitants ( 2004 estimate ). The name derives from the Gaelic Tobar Mhoire what " Mary's Well " means.

The colorful row of houses in the port of Tobermory is the backdrop of the well-known British children's series about the fictional place Balamory. A whiskey distillery with visitor center can be visited in Tobermory.
