Tobias Angerer

Tobias Angerer ( born April 12, 1977 in Traunstorf, the district of Traunstein ) is a former German cross country skier who competed for the SC Vachendorf. Angerer won in 2006 and 2007 the overall standings of the World Cup cross-country skiing and discipline rating for distance races. At the World Championships and Olympic Games, he won a total of eleven medals in his career.

Life

Angerer comes from a winter sports-loving family. His uncle Anton Angerer was a member of the German national biathlon team. Also sister Kathrin Angerer was for many years active cross-country skier. In 1996 he graduated from the High School at Skigymnasium Berchtesgaden. Since then, he belongs to the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Berchtesgaden.

Angerer is dating a lawyer and former biathlete Romy Large. In September 2008, they became parents of a daughter. A year later, married young and Angerer. In August 2011, Romy gave birth to a son. The couple live with United 's daughter from a previous relationship and their two children in Traunstein.

Sporting career

Early years ( 1993-2001 )

He grew up on the cross-country ski enthusiastic sportsman (football, tennis, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing ) was already at the age of two years on cross-country skis. During the sprint in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he reached the finals and was recorded as 22, his first World Cup points. However, in the distance competitions he could not keep up with the world leaders. His best result was the 65th place in Seefeld 10-kilometer freestyle. At the end of the season he finished third in the overall standings of the European Cup. In the 1999/2000 season Angerer was achieved together with Peter Schlickenrieder in the sprint relay at the World Cup in Asiago only the third World Cup victory of a German general. In the 2000 /01 season Angerer won the overall title of the European Cup for, among others, by his first win and several podium finishes. At the end of the season he succeeded in Kuopio, Finland on the rare spilled distance of 60 kilometers freestyle with number 17 his best result so far in the World Cup.

Breakthrough (2001 to 2005)

The sporting breakthrough in the world's top managed Tobias Angerer in the 2001/ 02 season. Direct to the start of the season, he finished in Kuopio first place over a distance of 10 km freestyle. The Pursuit competition in Ramsau he succeeded behind Axel Teichmann and Anders Sodergren his first podium finish in a singles competition in the World Cup. The Nordic World Ski Championships 2003 in Val di Fiemme began Angerer but with a bitter disappointment. The tracking competition he finished only 60th as of 67 runners. On January 6, 2004 Angerer celebrated in the pursuit competition in Falun his first World Cup victory. In a competitive race he won the sprint from the Italian Pietro Piller Cottrer, René Sommerfeldt and Jens Filbrich. After numerous other good finishes, he finished at the end of the season in the World Cup, which was won by Sommerfeldt, fourth. This result he was able to repeat in the following season 2004/ 05. In the discipline rating distance race he rose to third overall. Highlights ( 2005-2010 )

In the season 2005 /06, Angerer continuously fought for places in the top ten. He achieved eight podiums, including five World Cup victories (Oberstdorf, Val di Fiemme, Canmore, Vernon and Kuusamo ). Thus he secured sovereign victory in the overall standings of the World Cup cross-country skiing. In the final account Angerer had 829 points, while the runner Norwegian Jens Arne Svartedal was able to record only 577 points to his credit. After Sommerfeldt and Teichmann Angerer was the third German to have won the overall World Cup. Also the evaluation of the distance competitions he won this season in itself. The highlight of the season was the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. The Pursuit competition of the series winner of the season could not keep up with the leading group and finished a disappointing twelfth place for him in the end. Over a distance of 15 kilometers to classic Angerer but secured behind the Estonian Andrus Veerpalu and Lukas Bauer, the bronze medal.
