Tobique River

BW

The Tobique River is a river in the northwest of the Canadian province of New Brunswick.

The river is formed at the confluence of its two source rivers - Right Hand Branch Tobique River and Little Tobique River - at Tobique Forks north of Nictau.

The river flows in a predominantly south-westerly direction. Below Nictau happened the Tobique River Blue Mountain, Oxbow and Plaster Rock, where the tributary Wapskeheagan River meets him. The Tobique River continues to flow on the Tobique First Nation over the Saint John River.

Immediately before the Tobique Dam is a beach on its left bank and a rocky promontory on the opposite side of the river. This is a popular photo opportunity during the period of Indian Summer.

The Tobique Narrows Dam was built in 1951-1953 about a kilometer before it flows into the Saint John River from NB Power.
