Toby Petersen

Toby Emanuel Petersen ( born October 27, 1978 in Minneapolis, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.

Career

Petersen was drafted in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 at 244th place in the ninth round by the Pittsburgh Penguins. After four years at Colorado College from 1996 to 2000 he played in the 2000/ 01 season for the first time in the NHL. However, most of the time he spent at the farm team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League. In the 2001 /02 season, he then had the season with currently most NHL games, in which he brought it to 79 inserts ( 8 goals, 10 assists). Despite this performance, he had to spend again exclusively in the AHL the following years.

In summer 2004, he moved from Pittsburgh to the Edmonton Oilers, but was also used there, with two exceptions in the playoffs of the 2005/06 season only in the AHL with the Edmonton Road Runners and later at the Iowa Stars. Since the stars were actually the AHL farm team of the Dallas Stars, he was able to make contact with this franchise and has been committed by the stars in the summer of 2007 as a free agent. After long use again in Iowa, he finally succeeded, thanks also to violations of his teammates, in time for the playoffs the leap into the squad and showed especially in the series against the Detroit Red Wings his qualities as a defensive forward.
