Toby Roth

Anton Tobias " Toby " Roth ( born October 10, 1938 in Strasburg, Emmons County, North Dakota ) is a former American politician. Between 1979 and 1997 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Toby Roth attended until 1957, St. Mary's High School in Menasha (Wisconsin ). Then he studied until 1961 at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Between 1962 and 1969 he was a member of a reserve lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He then worked as a broker.

Politically, Roth joined the Republican Party. Between 1972 and 1978 he was a deputy in the Wisconsin State Assembly. In the congressional elections of 1978 he was in the eighth constituency of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat Robert John Cornell on 3 January 1979. After eight re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1997 for nine consecutive terms of office. There, the 27th Amendment to the Constitution was adopted in 1992.

In 1996, Roth opted not to run again. After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives, he retired from politics. He now lives in Great Falls ( Virginia).
