Tochal

The Totschāl or Tochal ( [ toʧɔ ː l] ) (Persian توچال ) is a 3,964 m high mountain in the Alborz Mountains in northern Iran.

Location

The Totschāl rises immediately north of the capital Tehran. Since 1977, a 12 km long cable car connects the city with the upper part of the mountain, which is known as a winter sports area. In 3,545 m above sea level there is a hotel. At the summit a Aluminiumiglu stands for weather protection. The mountain is located in the central Alborz Mountains, west of Damavand, the highest peak of the country.
