Todtenweis

Todtenweis is a municipality in the Swabian district Aichach -Friedberg and a member of the administrative community Aindling. The place is located in the right Lechrain, about 20 kilometers northeast of Augsburg.

History

A settlement area with brick kiln is dated to the Roman period. At that time the present municipality was in the territory of the Roman province of Raetia. The foundation of the town around the year 650 goes back to the Bavarians Tato. Todtenweis was mentioned in a document on June 26, 1033 a deed of gift of Emperor Conrad II Todtenweis belonged to Rentamt Munich and the court Aichach of the Electorate of Bavaria. With the entry into force of the Reform in Bavaria, the Upper Bavarian municipality originally came on 1 July 1972 administrative region of Swabia.

The Catholic parish of St. Ulrich and Afra in Todtenweis belongs to the parish community Aindling the Dean Aichach -Friedberg in the diocese of Augsburg. At the parish also includes the villages of Bach and sand. 2013 was one of the parish about 1081 Catholics.

Mayor

Thomas crack was elected in 2008 as the successor to Josef Kodmeir. Crack died on September 3, 2013 at the age of 59 years.

Coat of arms

The Coat of Arms description is: Argent, a blue tip is swept, in a golden royal crown, in front a blue Ulrich Cross, behind a floating, black cross, the longitudinal beams is sullied the bottom left with a short bar.

Attractions

The site of Todtenweis is determined by the Baroque parish church of St. Ulrich and Afra, built between 1737 /38.

North West of the town is the extensive earthworks of a putative major Hungary protective castle have received ( priest jump, Römerschanze ).

About the village of sand on the Lechrain are still the earth walls of the early to high medieval fortification Postal sand to see, southwest of the village of Bach are the remains of the roughly formed at the same time fortification of the castle stable stream.

West of Todtenweis sand are the Sander lakes and Aindlinger Stretch.
