Toffen is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Located in the lower Guerbetal ( neighboring town of Belp in the north), the village nestles at the mountain length, but extends to the hamlet at the foot of Heitern Belpberg. The highest point is the triangulation above the Pfaffenloch to 881 m, the deepest point of the canal bridge at Toffenholz to 523 meters. Of the 488 hectares of the municipal area are 78 acres of forest. Neighboring municipalities are Belp, Gelterfingen, Kaufdorf, Niedermuhlern, Rüeggisberg and forest.

History

From the Roman period dates the mosaic found in 1894 in the area of ​​land Ackers, which today is located in Bern Historical Museum. The name comes from the Roman Toffen " tofu " for tuff. Traffic

Toffen is well served by public transport: The existing since 1913 Gürbetalbahn is now part of the S -Bahn lines 4/44/3 and operated by the BLS group. Economy
