Tofu skin

Yuba (Japanese汤 叶) is a protein-rich specialty of Japanese cuisine.

It is prepared as follows: Heated soy milk forms in rectangular pans a skin which is gently withdrawn, suspended on thin sticks and dried. When dried, the rectangular milk skin sheets are then folded or rolled into sticks.

For consumption, the leaves are moistened with a cloth that sticks directly soaked in water.

Yuba has a creamy, nut -like flavor and is a meat substitute. Yuba is also used to wrap other foods in it, which can then be fried, steamed or fried. The fried yuba sticks are similar with their brown grain bamboo wood and then also so called (engl: bamboo ).
