Tokamak à configuration variable

The Tokamak à configuration variable (TCV ) is an experimental nuclear fusion reactor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne ( EPFL). He was taken into operation in 1992 and serves research into nuclear fusion.

Brief History

The " New Swiss Association " suggested in 1976 before the first time to build a fusion experimental reactor after the tokamak principle. The proposal was not pursued, then in 1985 he was re-submitted in a revised form. A year later, he was finally accepted and the project was awarded funding for development, construction and maintenance. In November of 1992, after six years of construction, the first plasma was successfully ignited. 1997, a service life of the plasma was obtained from 2 seconds.
