Toke Talagi

Toke Talagi Tufukia is a politician and current Prime Minister of Niue. In addition to the Office of the Prime Minister, he also fills the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of International Relations and Minister for the coordination of development assistance. Since no political parties insist on Nuie, Talagi " no party affiliation " is.

In 2002 he was elected to the National Assembly of Niue, in the 2005 elections he had the same number of votes as a competitor and retained his seat only because of the determination of the winner conducted the draw. In the 2008 elections he was re-elected by a large majority.

He was elected by the Niue Assembly on 19 June 2008 with 14:5 votes with one abstention in a vote for Prime Minister, in which also the previous incumbent Young Vivian had a candidate.
