Tokmak (Ukraine)

Tokmak (Ukrainian and Russian Токмак; rare German wholesale Tokmak ) is a small city in the Zaporizhia Oblast in the south-central Ukraine with about 32,000 inhabitants ( 2013). It is the administrative center of the Rajons Tokmak and even directly subordinate to the oblast. The town lies 98 km southeast of the Oblasthauptstadt Zaporizhia.

It was founded under the name " Welykyj Tokmak " (Ukrainian Великий Токмак ) in 1784 and was called until 1962. 1938 municipal charter granted.
