Tokyo Japan Temple

The Tokyo Temple (English Tokyo Japan Temple, formerly Tokyo Temple; jap东京 神殿, Tōkyō shinden ) is the eighteenth temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints. He stands in Minato- ku Tokyo, and was the first in Asia. Since it was built on a very small plot of land in downtown Tokyo, it is very compact. Prior to a mission of Latter -day Saints stood on this property. The design became the model for later temples in inner-city areas such as the Hong Kong Temple and the Manhattan New York Temple.

The temple has a total floor area of 4,886 square meters, two endowment and five sealing rooms, underground parking and an apartment for the president of the temple. The facade is made of reinforced concrete, which is covered with 289 prefabricated stone panels that look like light gray granite. Before the consecration of the temple from 15 September to 18 October 1980, the public was available. On 20 December 2004, as in most temples of this denomination, an angel Moroni placed on top of the tower.

The temple is responsible for the believers in northern Japan and the Russian Far East. In June 2000, a second temple in Japan was opened in Fukuoka.
