Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium

The Tōkyō Taiikukan (Japanese东京 体育馆, " Gymnasium Tokyo ."; Engl Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, " Gymnasium Tokyo Prefecture ") is an entertainment venue Built in 1954 in the Shibuya district of Tokyo Prefecture. It is located in Sendagaya district in the western central Tokyo and holds 10,000 spectators.

Owner is the Tokyo Prefecture, is operated by the Tōkyō-to Sports Bunka Jigyōdan, a foundation ( zaidan - Hojin ), commissioned by the prefectural government several sports facilities such as the Olympic Park Komazawa operates.

In Tōkyō Taiikukan numerous national and international sporting events and concerts of famous artists took place. At the Olympic Games in 1964, the hall for gymnastics and swimming events was used.
