Tokyo String Quartet

The Tokyo String Quartet was a string quartet ensemble, which was founded at the Juilliard School of Music in 1969 and disbanded in July 2013. Since June 2002, the quartet played in the following formation:

  • Martin Beaver - violin
  • Kikuei Ikeda - Violin
  • Kazuhide Isomura - Viola
  • Clive Greensmith - Cello

Kazuhide Isomura was since the founding member, Kikuei Ikeda since 1974.

Especially in the classical repertoire, the Quartet for its fine sound was highly praised. It was next to the Swiss Stradivari Quartet is the only string quartet, which has performed on four Stradivariinstrumenten.
