Toledo Blades

The Toledo blades were an American ice hockey franchise in the International Hockey League from Toledo, Ohio. The venue of the blades was the Toledo Sports Arena.

History

The Omaha Knights of the International Hockey League changed in 1963 in the Central Hockey League. The IHL license then went over to the Toledo Blade, the aufgnahmen the operation of gambling in the International Hockey League for the season 1963/64. Already it their first season they finished with 86 points to first place after the main round and eventually won the play-off final and therefore the Turner Cup, the championship of the IHL. Furthermore, they have been awarded the Fred A. Huber Trophy as the best team in the main round.

After the club failed to qualify for the finals in the next two years, the team succeeded in the season 1966/67, again, to win the Turner Cup. Between 1967 and 1970, the Blades took no more part in the play-offs. At the end of the season 1969/70 the team was renamed the Toledo Hornets.
