Tom Aggar

Tom Aggar ( born May 24, 1984 in London ) is a British rower. Aggar is the first Paralympic champion and four -time world champion in the Handicap - One.

Prior to his rowing career Aggar successfully played rugby for the University of Warwick. In 2005 he suffered in an accident a severe spinal cord injury and has since been paralyzed from the legs to.

He first began to train on the rowing ergometer, his first race on a specially constructed for paraplegics device he played in 2006. The following year he represented, even though he had been denied only two official race, Britain's first at a World Rowing Championships. In Munich, he won in a new world record gold in men's handicap one.

In 2008 he was a member of the national team for the Paralympic Games in Beijing, where handicap rowing was in the program for the first time. Aggar was his role as favorite and won the gold medal.

In the following years he took part in World Cups and the World Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011. It took Aggar, which has never been beaten in an international competition, is always the first place.

The 1.89 meter tall Aggar has a competition weight of 84 kg, and starts for the Royal Docks RC.
