Tom Enders

Thomas Enders ( born December 21, 1958 in Neuschlade ) is a German manager. He was from May 2004 to August 2007 CEO of EADS ( Airbus today's Group). On 27 August 2007 he was appointed to the company's head of European aircraft manufacturer Airbus. Since 1 June 2012 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of the Airbus Group.

Enders was 2005-2012 President of BDLI ( Federation of German air and space industry - German trade association for the leading companies and institutions in the aviation and aerospace technology ).

Life

The son of a shepherd served after school on Copernicus -Gymnasium knowledge as a paratrooper in the army and dressed as a reservist presently there the rank of major in the reserve. Between 1978 and 1983 he studied economics and political sciences and history at the Rheinische Friedrich- Wilhelms- University of Bonn and the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1987 he earned his doctorate as a fellow of the Konrad -Adenauer -Stiftung at the University of Bonn with a dissertation on the SPD and external security.

From 1982 to 1985 he worked as an assistant in the German Bundestag and was between 1985 and 1987 worked as a research assistant at the Research Institute of the Konrad -Adenauer -Stiftung in Sankt Augustin. 1988 Enders was Research Fellow at the Research Institute of the German Society for Foreign Affairs in Bonn and Senior Research Associate at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London.

From 1989 to 1991 Enders was under Defense Minister Gerhard Stoltenberg member of the Policy Planning Staff of the Ministry of Defence in Bonn. From 1991 to 1995, he worked at MBB / DASA in Munich, where he held various positions of the marketing department. From 1995 to 1996, he served as Managing Director and Chairman of the Supervisory Board at DASA. From 1996 to 2000 Enders was Director of the Department " Corporate Development and Technology" DASA.

2000 Enders was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Steering Committee of EADS ( Head of Defence and Security Systems Division ). Since May 2004 he has been Chief Executive Officer of EADS Germany GmbH. His Bundeswehr career earned him the nickname at EADS Major Tom. Enders is also on the supervisory boards of German BP Aktiengesellschaft and Dornier GmbH, where as chairman, works.

In July 2007, Enders was appointed by the response to the crisis at EADS subsidiary Airbus managing director of the aircraft manufacturer. Since 27 August 2007, he held this position.

End of January 2012 gave the Board of Directors of EADS his permission that Enders 2012 will replace the Frenchman Louis Gallois as Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of the European aerospace and defense company. He took over the office from Gallois on 1 June 2012.

1984, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013, Enders was a participant in the Bilderberg Conference.

From mid- 2005 to 30 June 2009, he was chairman of Atlantik-Brücke eV Enders was a member of the CSU ( Ortsverband Tegernsee ). In March 2011, he resigned from the party, which he founded as the nuclear moratorium with the policies of the coalition at federal Libya.

Thomas Enders is married and has four sons.
