Tom Farrell (athlete)

Tom Farrell (actually Thomas Francis Farrell, born January 18, 1944 in New York City ) is an American former middle distance runner.

In the 800 - meter race of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he was fifth.

In 1965 he became English Champion, 1966 U.S. champion over 880 yards. For the St. John's University in New York City, he was starting in 1964 and 1965 NCAA champion in the 800 m and 880 yards.

In 1968, he won the 800m at the U.S. eliminator for the Olympic Games in Mexico City. There he won with his personal best time of 1:45,4 min the bronze medal behind the Australians Ralph Doubell, who set a world record with 1:44,3 min, and the Kenyans Wilson Kiprugut ( 1:44,5 min).
