Tom Fogerty

Tom Fogerty ( born November 9, 1941 in Berkeley, California, as Thomas Fogerty, † September 6, 1990 in Scottsdale, Arizona ) was an American musician.

Biography

Tom Fogerty was rhythm guitarist of the American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival. He stood there in the shadow of his younger brother John Fogerty, the lead singer and lead guitarist of the band. However, Tom Fogerty was able to bring his talent only to a small extent, since almost all pieces composed by Creedence Clearwater Revival by John, texted or were arranged. Only one written by Tom Fogerty song ever recorded on an album of the band. It involves the still from her time as "The Golliwogs " native song "Walking on the Water", which was later published under the name "Walk on the Water" on the first album of the band. Only in the last work of the band, which appeared in the April 1972 album Mardi Gras, were the two except John Fogerty remaining band members Stu Cook ( bass) and Doug Clifford (drums) present their own compositions, which included, but were largely negative light.

Because of disputes with his brother, he left the band in 1971. In the following years several solo albums, but brought little success appeared. With his band Ruby ( CD Precious Gems ) he was live very successful. He also produced a record of the musician Merl Saunders. His record sidekicks did not want to press the record company. She appeared only in 1992 after his death. The great hope of the fans, a reunion of the group Creedence Clearwater Revival, was not fulfilled.

Tom Fogerty died at the age of 48 from respiratory arrest due to tuberculosis. The reason for this, however, was an AIDS disease that he had contracted through a contaminated blood transfusion after a spinal surgery.
