Tom Reichelt

Tom Reichelt ( born May 12, 1982 in Marienberg ) is a German cross country skier, member of the German national team and Olympic athletes in Vancouver in 2010.

Life

Reichelt comes from Heider village in Seiffen in the Erzgebirge, where he attended elementary school until 1992. His first coach was Frank Hiemann. His grandfather Dieter Lippmann is the mayor of his home town Heider village. By 1996, Reichelt went to high school in Olbernhau, then went to high school sports to Oberwiesenthal. In 2001, he graduated from high school and after his military service in 2002 he was sports soldier in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Frankenberg. Since 1998 he is member of the national team. In 2010 he completed his first Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Career

Tom Reichelt competes for the WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal. His debut in the Cross Country World Cup celebrated Tom Reichelt in January 2003 in Oberhof. Two years later brought the axis in Nové Město na Moravě his first World Cup points. A first big break came in March 2006, when he finished at Holmenkollen sensational at the World Cup race over the 50 km free third place, his best result to date.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo, Japan, his first World Cup appearance, succeeded Reichelt, to fight for the 18th place in the discipline over 50 km.

Tom Reichelt can play to its strengths, especially in long and demanding race in free technique. Here he has already won a few races outside the FIS World Cup, including the King -Ludwig- running 2006 and 2008.

On November 22, 2008 Reichelt finished the World Cup opener in Gällivare Sweden's surprising fourth place over 15km freestyle and thus, traveled as a substitute, the first German to reach the qualification for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec.

At the Tour de Ski 2008/2009 Reichelt ran in the final mountain tracking, the second fastest time, 1.5 seconds behind the fastest Ivan Babikov. Thus he succeeded in his first second place finish in a World Cup race. In the overall classification of the Tour de Ski, he finished 29th place.

At his first Olympics start in Vancouver in 2010 Reichelt was succeeded by the spare man, about 15 km free style 38 He also launched in Skiathlon (15 km klassisch/15 km free), where he finished in 35th place.
