Tom Schilling

Tom Schilling ( born February 10, 1982 in Berlin ) is a German actor.

Life

Schilling grew up in Berlin-Mitte, the son of two cartographers. As a six- year-old he was brought by his mother to a first audition, he subsequently went on in a GDR film. He later attended the John Lennon -Gymnasium. The director Thomas Heise sought in Schillings school children who were in the play In the Shadow of the Moon occur, the then twelve- year-old completed a casting and was then committed to the piece. At the Berliner Ensemble he also appeared in other pieces in the next four years. The breakthrough came in 2000 on the side of Shia LaBeouf in the film Crazy based on the novel by Benjamin Lebert. For his portrayal of aimless Berlin study terminator Niko he received a second Bavarian Film Award, the German Film Award and was nominated for the prize of the German Film Critics. Also for this role Schilling was nominated for the European Film Awards 2014 in the category of Best Actor.

On November 14, 2013, he was awarded a Bambi.

Schilling lives in Berlin -Prenzlauer Berg and has a son.
