Tom Tyler

Tom Tyler ( born August 9, 1903 in Port Henry, New York, USA, † May 1, 1954 in Hamtramck, Michigan ) was an American actor in silent and sound films.

Life

Tyler was born into a Polish -American family as Vincent Markowski. Tyler had a long film career, from the 1920s to the 1050s years. In the 1920s, he was an important actor in Western FBO. He starred in a large number of films, including Western, such as John Ford's Ringo ( Stagecoach ) and She Wore. Most of his films were B-movies, for which he received only modest salaries. Only his great athleticism helped the athletes Taylor sometimes to roles in larger studios, for its robustness, however, was the deciding factor and not his acting skills. He played for example the mummy in the hand of the Mummy (The Mummy's Hand ), or the title character in the first film adaptation of a superhero comics, the movie The Amazing Adventures of Captain Marvel ( The Adventures of Captain Marvel).

Another notable role was his role in The Phantom, with whom he had great success thanks to its excellent body language and characterization of this role. Ten years after this, his last major film role, Columbia Pictures tried to win him a continuation of the film, however, was prevented by his death in 1954. The film was released to the adventures of Captain Africa ( The Adventures of Captain Africa ) can be rewritten, then still with John Hart in the lead role.
