Tomás Álvarez de Acevedo

Tomás Antonio Álvarez de Acevedo y Robles (* around 1740 in Spain, † probably in 1788, probably in Santiago de Chile) was a Spanish lawyer and served on an interim basis in 1780 as governor in Captaincy General of Chile.

Álvarez studied in Salamanca and then went to the New World. On the Real Audiencia of Charcas, he worked from 1776 as a prosecutor (Spanish: fiscal ) and then held at the Real Audiencia of Lima, the Office of Prosecution.

In November 1777 he was (Spanish: Regente ) as the first chairman of the Real Audiencia of Chile appointed after the presidency had always located by then in the hands of governors.

In Santiago, he married Maria Josefa Carrillo y Salazar.

From 6 July 1780 to 12 December 1780, he held office on an interim basis as governor of the General Captaincy.

1786 there was an incident when Álvarez had enforced a death sentence despite formal.
