Tomás Carbonell

Tomás Carbonell Lladó ( born August 7, 1968 in Barcelona ) is a former Spanish tennis player.

Life

Carbonell won the 1986 at the side of Petr Korda the junior competition at Wimbledon, as well as on the side of Javier Sánchez junior competition of the U.S. Open. The following year, he became a professional tennis player.

In the same year he won his first of a total of 22 double titles on the ATP World Tour; he won in Buenos Aires on the side of Sergio Casal. In 1992, he won his first singles title in Maceió. His second and last single title he won in 1996 in Casablanca, he was also twice in a final. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1996 with position 40 in the singles and in 1995 with position 22 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the third round at the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, respectively. In the doubles competition, he reached the semifinals of the French Open, in 1999 with Pablo Albano, and in 2000 with Martín García twice. In addition, he was able to win in 2001 on the side of Virginia Ruano Pascual Mixed competition of the French Open.

Carbonell played between 1991 and 1996, two singles and four doubles matches for the Spanish Davis Cup team. In the 2-3 loss against Germany in the quarter- finals in 1994, he lost at the side of Sergi Bruguera the double against Karsten Braasch and Michael Stich. At the 1996 Summer Olympics he performed for Spain in a double and reached Sergi Bruguera the quarterfinals.
