Tomáš Vlasák

Tomáš Vlasák ( born January 15, 1975 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who plays in the position of right winger for HC Plzeň in the Extraliga since 2007.

Career

Tomáš Vlasák began his career in the youth of the HC Slavia Prague, for the first team he made his debut in the season 1992/93. In 1993 he moved to HC Litvinov and evolved into the following five seasons as one of the best scorers of the Extraliga. At the end of the season 1995/96 he reached with his team's playoff finale in which subject them to the HC Petra Vsetín with 1:4. In 1998 he was taken from the HPK Hämeenlinna under contract and could make his offensive strength demonstrated in the 1998/99 season he was the third-best scorer in the league, was elected to the All- Star team and reached with his new team the playoff semifinals. In the following season he was fourth- best scorer of the league and awarded in January 2000 as player of the month.

At the beginning of the 2000/01 season Vlasák got the chance to play in the National Hockey League. He was ten times used by the Los Angeles Kings, of which he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in the fifth round as the 120th overall player in the NHL, where he scored one goal and three assists. His NHL debut came on 17 October 2000 against the Nashville Predators, his first and only goal he succeeded on 23 October 2000 against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. In addition, he completed five games for the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League. On 5 December 2000 he was given the release of the Kings and finished the season at HPK in Finland. In summer 2001, he signed a contract with HC Ambri -Piotta from the Swiss National League A, for whom he scored 46 points scorer in 49 competitive games. After that he was taken from HK Avangard Omsk under contract, where he again impressed offensively and top scorer of the season 2002 /03 was. A year later he reached with Avangard winning the Russian championship. After this success, he moved to Ak Bars Kazan, but returned after five games for Kazan back to the Czech Republic and played from then again for his home club, the HC Slavia Prague.

Middle of the season 2006/ 07 he left them and was obliged by Linköpings HC. With the Swedish top club, he reached the final of the Swedish Championship, where his team MODO Hockey defeated with 2:4. In the summer of 2007, Vlasák agreed with the HC Lasselsberger Plzeň on a two year contract, where he belongs, together with Martin Straka to the best strikers.

Internationally

Tomáš Vlasák completed his first major international tournament for the Czechoslovakian national team at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1992, where the national team won the gold medal. In 1993 he went for the Czech team selection on the ice and finished with the U18 selection at the U18 European Junior Championships 1993 third place. A year later, he took part in the Junior World Championships in 1994.

It was not until 1999 re-appointed to the national team and won with these three gold medals at the world championships in a row. 1999, 2000 and 2001, He also took part in the 2002 World Cup and the World Cup of Hockey in 2004, where he won the bronze medal.
