Tomatine

α - tomatine a glycoalkaloid from the group consisting of Solanum alkaloids. It is found in the tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) and other Solanum species, and Lycopersicon.

α - tomatine is composed of tomatidine and β - Lycotetraose. It protects the tomato plant against attack by Colorado potato beetle larvae and has against the causative agent of tomato wilt and other pathogenic fungi and lichens an antibiotic effect.
