Tomilino

Tomilino (Russian Томилино ) is an urban-type settlement in Moscow Oblast with a population of 30,605 (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The settlement is located about 25 kilometers southeast of Moscow on the Pechorka, a small left-hand tributary of the Moskva River.

Tomilino belongs to Rajon Ljuberzy whose administrative center Ljuberzy immediately northwest connects to the settlement. The settlement Tomilino are subject to the villages Chlystowo, Jegorowo, Kirillovka, Mirny, Schilino -1, Schilino -2, Tokarjowo, Tschassownja and Tschkalowo.

History

In the 19th century, the region of today's settlement of Prince Obolensky family belonged. In the 1880s, here was a country house estate. As a founding year is 1894, when here the well-known trade contractor Tomilin had built a house, after which the settlement was named in a row.

After the Second World War, the German generals Friedrich Paulus, Vincenz Müller and Arno von Lenski were held captive in a dacha in Tomilino temporarily.

Culture and sights
