Tommy Berggren

Tommy Berggren (* April 20, 1950; † 4 December 2012) was a Swedish football player. In the Allsvenskan season in 1978, he was top scorer in Allsvenskan and appointed in the same year in the Swedish national team.

Career

Berggren debuted over the premiership season 1968 Djurgårdens IF in the Allsvenskan. First, he ran for the club as a defender. With the club he took to the side of players like Sven Lindman, Ove Rübsamen and Dan Brzokoupil often places in the upper middle of the league. In the season 1974 he played under coach Antonio Durán for the first time in the national team, but was slowed by an injury and ultimately not called by coach Georg Ericson.

Berggren was characterized often by the fact that he gave up his position in defense in the last minutes of the game to help on the offensive, and thus contributed to some point gains. After striker Anders Grönhagen had hurt, he advanced to the 1977 season with five goals this season for best internal association scorers. Then coach Bengt Persson promoted him next Grönhagen in the striker, which thanked him Berggren with 19 goals this season. Although he finished in the club only the fifth place in the scorer in the Allsvenskan, he finished but before Billy Ohlsson Hammarby IF the first rank. Because of its accuracy, he came also in the course of the season for his national team debut. In his first game on 16 August of the year against the Danish national team, he came on as a substitute for Thomas Sjöberg used and crowned his debut with the Swedish consolation goal in the 1-2 defeat. By the end, he played a total of three matches, only in the 1:3 away defeat against the selection of Czechoslovakia within the qualification for the European Championship 1980, he was in the starting.

Berggren was unable to repeat his Torerfolge in the sequence, in the season 1979, he appeared as a five-time scorer in appearance. In the following years he remained as a scorer behind Grönhagen and the young talent Hans Holmqvist. At the end of the season 1981, in which he had scored three times, he went with the club as a Table in the second division from. Although succeeded in Division 2 Norra before Gefle IF the relay victory in the promotion round he failed but with the team at local rivals AIK. After the 1-2 first-leg defeat his goal for 2-2 in the second leg was not enough. A short time later, he ended his career with the club.
