Tommy Finke

Tommy Finke ( full name: Thomas David Finke, born 1981 in Bochum, Germany ) is a German singer and musicians in the genres of indie, alternative and pop and composer for Electronic Music / Computer Music and theater music. He is best known for his anthemic songs and lyrics and occasionally works as an author and journalist.

Biography

Tommy Finke was born in 1981 in Bochum, where he currently lives and works. From 2003 to 2008 he studied at the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media at the Folkwang University of the Arts in professional Electronic composition as a pupil of Dirk Reith and closed on 3 July 2008 graduated with a diploma examination.

Music

Since 1997, Tommy Finke appears regularly with self-written songs. Oasis, The Beatles, The Cure, The Police Rio Reiser and influence his songwriting sustainable, as German -language bands like Tocotronic and the stars. In 1998, Tommy Finke with school friends fun punk band Hummel Face, in 1999, based at the Hamburg school band electric guitar that on 8 December 2000 had its first public appearance. On 14 June 2007, the song was Repairs, what makes you broke! and the corresponding B-side released digitally and available for free download. On 22 October 2007, the release of the album of the same followed as vinyl disc, on 15 February 2008, the publication as a download and CD Release. As one of nine "Talents " Tommy Finke & Band in 2008 were in the support program of the Volkswagen Sound Foundation. On 3 September 2008, she won the advance Scheid of the nationwide youth cultural sponsorship prize, which took place in Cologne in the city garden; the final on 11 November 2008, the second place was achieved.

On 28 August 2009 Tommy Finke gave in his blog known surprising that the next album Poet of the Apes / Poet of the Apes will be released in the spring of 2010 due to a record deal at Bochum traditional label ROOF Music. The recordings for the forthcoming album Repaired, what makes you broke! running since October 2008.

Poet of the Apes / Poet of the Apes was released on 29 January 2010 and as a double album contains all the songs once in German and once in English. For a singer- songwriter from Germany, this is unprecedented.

In April 2010, Tommy Finke occurred in the broadcast TV Noir and played some of his songs solo.

End of July 2011, the piece Borderline Betty on the sampler Matuschkes darlings of the radio station Bayern 3 was released.

Theater

Directed by Kay Voges Finke wrote in 2013 the music for the play The Golden Age - 100 Ways to fate steal the show at the Theater Dortmund, which celebrated its 2013 premiere on September 13. Music, video, acting, directing and dramaturgy form a representational unit in the piece.

Currently Finke is working on the music for the play 4.48 Psychosis the playwright Sarah Kane. Pure music plane here extends through body sensors, which influence the music. The premiere will take place in May 2014, directed by Kay Voges.

Savior of the Rock Records

To be Repaired album, what makes you broke! publish, Tommy Finke founded in 2007, the savior of the label Rock Records. In collaboration with the sales Rough Trade is now not only Tommy Finke album appeared, but also the debut CD by Fabian and the current orchestra ( undercurrent), Trapped Inside the Chase (self- titled) and Spaceman Spiff (soil anxiety). On 15 April 2011 the debut album by Captain 's Diary appeared, never please everyone. On 2 September 2011, the debut EP by Edy Edwards appeared with the title in 1989.

The Song Poet of the Apes / Poet of the Apes Album of the same name, the American skeptic James Randi speaks a few lines. These were specially recorded for the album.

The song title Beer and Loathing in Las Vegas refers to the book / movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The song Repairs, what makes you broke! refers broken on the song Do what makes you broke! the political rock group Sharam.

2001 singing actor Uwe Rohde with electric guitar Tommy's song Beer and Loathing in Las Vegas for the soundtrack of the film Lemming spring. 2006 sang Tommy Finke on the EP Football songs from the band Helter Skelter a few lines in the play Football Songs ( Bad Cover Version). In addition to the musicians of Helter Skelter were still Haggeney Andre, Daniel Roth (of Dorfdisko ), Jan pupils to hear Lorenz Theuermann and DJ Psycho Jones as the singer of this song.

The first electric guitar appearance was John Lennon's 20th death anniversary (8 December 2000 ). Drummer " King Rollo " disappeared mysteriously in 2003 fashion.

In March 2010, Tommy Finke reported - as part of a request for an (illegal) download possibility of his album Poet of the Apes - the forum to speak for themselves and moved as an artist critical position to do so. He described the difficult situation in his view, to be able to earn as a relatively unknown artist with the music money.
