Tommy Taylor

Thomas Taylor ( born January 29, 1932 in Barnsley, † February 6, 1958 in Munich) was an English footballer.

Life and career

Tommy Taylor was one of those Manchester United players who died in the crash of the BEA flight 609. He began his football career for a football team of his employer - a coal mine, called Smithies United. At the age of 16 Taylor got an offer from Barnsley FC. 1953, the center-forward for a then- record sum for the equivalent of about € 44,000 to Manchester United. Making its debut Taylor scored two goals. After a very successful games with the Red Devils, his former trainer and manager Matt Busby got a deal through the equivalent of about € 95,000 from Inter Milan, although it was not knocked out by Busby. Until his death, Taylor played 19 times for the English national football team, scoring 16 goals. In total, he played 191 times for ManUnited, scoring 131 goals.
