Tommy Westlund

Tommy Westlund ( born December 29, 1974 in Fors ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who played in his playing days from 1992 to 2004 among others for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League.

Career

Tommy Westlund began his career as a hockey player with the Avesta BK, for the first team, he was active in the then still second-class Division 1 1992-1995. He subsequently received a contract with Brynäs IF, for whom he played in the next three years in the Elitserien. After winger in the NHL Entry Draft, was selected in the fourth round in 1998 when a total of 93 players from the Carolina Hurricanes, he joined them and spent four seasons long for the team from Raleigh, North Carolina, in the National Hockey League.

With the Hurricanes, the Swede failed in the 2001/ 02 season, only in the final of the Stanley Cup to the Detroit Red Wings. The majority of the 2002/ 03 completed the 1998 world champion in the team Beast of New Haven of the American League farm team of the Hurricanes. His career ended Westlund following the 2003/04 season, he had spent in the Elitserien during Leksand IF, at the age of 30 years.

Internationally

For Sweden Westlund took part in the 1998 World Cup, in which he became world champion with his team.
