Tongzhou District, Nantong

Tongzhou (通州 区) is a district of the prefecture-level city of Nantong in Jiangsu Province, China at the mouth of the Yangtze River. Tongzhou has an area of 1,343 km ² and has about 1.2714 million inhabitants ( 2004). Capital is the greater community Jinsha (金沙 镇). The former independent city of Tongzhou was converted to the Tongzhou District, with effect from 31 March 2009.
