Tonino Guerra

Tonino Guerra ( born March 16, 1920 in Santarcangelo di Romagna, † March 21, 2012 ) was an Italian poet and screenwriter.

Life

Tonino Guerra wrote his early poems in dialect from Romagna while in detention at the labor camp of Troisdorf near Bonn. A lifelong friendship united him with Federico Fellini, which resulted in the film Amarcord, and Michelangelo Antonioni. Guerra lived until recently as an honorary citizen in Pennabilli. He is the father of the born in 1961, film composer Andrea Guerra ( and Others Music to Hotel Rwanda).

In 1983, Tonino Guerra, the first and only -time director, it was the film tempo di viaggio.

Awards (selection)

For the screenplays of Casanova '70 (1965 ), Blow Up (1966) and Amarcord (1973 ), Tonino Guerra was nominated three times for an Oscar. In 1984 he was awarded at the International Film Festival in Cannes for Best Screenplay ( for The Voyage to Cythera ). In 2002 he received the European Film Prize for his life's work. Three times in his career he was a David di Donatello win six times he won the Nastro d' Argento for Best Screenplay.
