Tõnis Kasemets

Tonis Kasemets ( born March 17, 1974 in Pärnu ) is an Estonian- American race car driver.

Kasemets 2011 received the U.S. citizenship and starts since then with a U.S. license. Previously, he took part in the Estonian flag motorsport.

Career

After Kasemets began his motorsport career in karting in 1992, he entered in 1994 and 1995 in the Formula Opel Euro Series. In 1995 he went to the USA and continued his career there, first in the Club Racing continues. In 2001 he moved to the U.S. F2000 National Championship. After tenth place in the first season he was in 2002 and 2003 respectively fourth in the drivers' standings.

In 2004 he went into the Formula Atlantic and took for Brooks Associates Racing part in six races. With two fifth places as the best results he finished the season in 13th place overall. In 2005, he took for the team Tonis part in all races in the Formula Atlantic and chose three for himself. In the end he was beaten narrowly in the championship by Dutchman Charles Zwolsman junior with 306 to 289 points and was runner-up.

In 2006 he moved to Paul Gentilozzis Rocket Sports Racing team in Champ Car series and participated in five races. Kasemets had his race with considerable sponsorship money finance and managed to finish the season with 34 points 19th overall. Initially he received no cockpit in the 2007 Champ Car Series or IndyCar Series and participated in some of the smaller racing series, he returned to the season finale for wax Newman Racing in the Formula Atlantic back. He finished in 29th place in the drivers' standings. In the following season Kasemets participated in two Formula Atlantic race, both of which he finished in third place on the podium. In the overall classification, he finished the season starting on the 21th Place. 2009 joined Kasemets for different teams for each round of the Formula Atlantic. He finished every race in the top ten pilots and a third place what his best result. In the Drivers' Championship, he finished fifth.

After the Formula Atlantic was set at end of season 2009, Kasemets took two races of the 2010 Indy Lights in part. He was sixth in both races and finished the season in 18th place overall. He also participated as a guest part in four races in the U.S. Formula Ford and came in a race to the finish first. 2011 Kasemets received U.S. citizenship and since then occurs with American racing license. In 2011 he started to some races of the Grand-Am Sports Car Series. In addition, he returned for a race in the Indy Lights. In addition, he participated in a meeting of the U.S. F2000 National Championship.
