Tony Alva
Tony Alva ( born September 2, 1957 in Santa Monica, California) is an American professional skateboarder, a member of the original Z-Boys and the first skateboard world champion ever. He is considered a pioneer of the Vert- style.
Life
Alva came from a relatively strict family and was given in 1968 gave a surf and a skateboard. He developed a strong passion for surfing, skateboarding and rock ' n ' roll. In 1972 he came with athletes such as Jay Adams and Stacy Peralta in the famous Zephyr team. After the great success of the team on his debut in 1975, Alva started a brilliant career. After the Zephyr skate team was soon destroyed by the industry, he signed with other companies and founded at the age of 19 years, his own skateboard company Alva Skateboards. He was considered eccentric and selfish exceptional talent, which had grown at that time hardly anyone in the competitions. Especially the Dogtown skateboarders in Articles Magazine by Craig Stecyk made him a legend in his sport and he will soon got the nickname Mad Dog. He rose to become the first major skateboard -Star history, enjoyed worldwide popularity and public perception of the discipline significantly changed. Tony Alva won the 1977 World Overall Professional Skateboard Championship.
In the early 1980s formed TA as it is often called, the famous Alva Posse and sponsored especially innovative skaters like Christian Hosoi, Ray Barbee, Mark Gonzalez, Dave Duncan, Eddie Reategui, John Thomas, Jeff Hartsel, Craig Johnson, Bill Danforth Fred Smith III, and Jim Murphy.
Later career
In 1999, he got in the 99 ' X Games the " X Games Lifetime Achievement Award " from Tony Hawk presented. A year later, he received the "Legend Award" by the Transworld Skateboarding Magazine.
In 2001, he was an important part of Stacy Peralta's documentary Dogtown & Z -Boys, in which he spoke in interviews about the origins of skateboarding at the time of the Z- Boys. In 2005 he worked at the movie Lords of Dogtown as a consultant and stunt coordinator for the skate scenes.
