Tony Carreira

Tony Carreira ( born December 30, 1963 in Armadouro, Pampilhosa da Serra, full name António Manuel Mateus Antunes ), is a Portuguese singer. He is very popular in the communities of Portuguese emigrants in France, but also in Portugal.

Biography

He decided in 1988 to begin a career as an artist, a studio recording of the first album was created by his French producer Patrick Oliver. In the same year he participated in the competition Prémio Nacional de Música in Figueira da Foz with the song Uma Noite a Teu Lado, which was one of the eight songs to choose from for the Festival da Canção this year. The song was released as a single from Transmédia.

In 1990, a record deal with Discossete for three years was signed. The first CD for the record label was taken up with the title É Verão Portugal in 1991. One of the songs on the disc, which is dedicated to his first son, with the title Meu Pequeno Herói was often played on the radio, especially by the moderator Carlos Ribeiro, and became a great success.

A new CD was recorded in 1992, entitled Canta Canta Portugal, but without much success, which led to the end of the contract with the publisher.
