Tony Colman (politician)

Tony Anthony John Colman ( born July 24, 1943 in Norfolk, England) is an entrepreneur, director of Africa Practice, Council member of the World Future Council and was a member of the British House of Commons.

About the person

Tony Colman was between 1997 and 2005 Labour MP for Putney, London. Prior to his election to Parliament, he was from 1991 to 1997 the city council and head of the London Borough of Merton. He can look back on a successful business career, including one as director of Burton and founder of Top Shop and Top. His parliamentary interests included trade, industry, the environment, pensions and finances.

He is currently deputy director of Africa Practice, a consulting organization for issues of social commitment of companies and their communication.

In the spring of 2007 he has been appointed councilor of the World Future Council.
