Tony Franklin (musician)

Tony Franklin ( born April 2, 1962 in Derby, England ) is a British rock musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, singer and producer. He was known primarily as a bass player for the band The Firm and Blue Murder.

As the birthplace of Franklin are the Pub " House of the Rising Sun" in derby. At age six, he began to make music in the band of his parents. At 18 he joined a dance band and has since earned his living as a professional musician.

The early 1980s, Franklin worked with Roy Harper, to Jimmy Page invited him in 1985 to play in his new band The Firm bass and keyboards. After the dissolution of the group Franklin began working on with Page at the solo album Outrider. Then in 1987 he joined from Blue Murder, the new band of John Sykes. The debut album Blue Murder was published in 1989, but sold sluggishly.

Franklin left Blue Murder. He fought his alcohol problems and moved to Los Angeles. During the 1990s he worked with many musicians on their projects, including Paul Rodgers, Alvin Lee, Eric Burdon, David Gilmour and Carmine Appice.

2000 then appeared the first solo album by Tony Franklin, Brave New Tomorrow, on which he played most of the instruments himself, all the voices sang, wrote the songs and he also produced.

2014 he will go with Carmine Appice, Joe Lynn Turner and Karl Cochran under the name Rated X on tour. A debut album is to be released in May.
