Tony Leblanc

Tony Leblanc (actually Ignacio Fernández Sánchez, born May 7, 1922 in Madrid, † November 24, 2012 in Villaviciosa de Odon ) was a Spanish actor, director and comedian.

Life

Leblanc, whose father worked in the Museo del Prado and was born there, learned singing and dancing, trying to be a football player for Real Club Deportivo Carabanchel in the third division, as well as a boxer; he succeeded to the title of regional champion in Castilian lightweight. Then he devoted himself to acting and starred in the ensemble of Nati Mistral and Celia Gámez. In 1945, he began his film career, first in smaller roles. From the mid 1950s until the end of the following decade, he has starred in numerous hit films Spanish; yet he was frequently seen at the side of Concha Velasco and as a comedian Trio with José Luis Gómez Bur Manolo and Ozores.

Occasionally Leblanc tried his hand as a director, screenwriter and composer. He also played in self-written revues in pieces of other, often under the direction of Mistral. Finally, he also found time to pursue early on Spanish TV a career. In 1975 he retired from the cinema and ended in 1983 after a car accident and his stage career.

In 1998 he returned; for his performance in Torrente - The Stupid Arm of the Law, he received a Premio Goya for Best Actor. This led to numerous other offers which he held until his death.
