Tony McNulty

Anthony " Tony" James McNulty ( born November 3, 1958 in Kensington, London ) is a British Labour Party politician, who the constituency of Harrow East in the House of Commons took several years and several times held ministerial posts.

Life

Professional activity and lower house deputy

After visiting the Salvatorian College in London Borough of Harrow and also established Stanmore Sixth Form College McNulty studied political science at the University of Liverpool, where he a Bachelor of Arts (BA Political Theory and Institutions ) acquired, and at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, from which he graduated with a Master of Arts (MA Political Science ). After graduating, he became Senior Lecturer in Organization Theory at the University of North London. In addition, he began his political career in local politics and was a member of the Council of the Borough of Harrow and the temporary chairman of the local Labour group.

After he was a candidate in the general election in 1992 already unsuccessfully in constituency Harrow East, he was first elected in the general election of 1 May 1997 as a candidate of the Labour Party member of the House of Commons and represented in this by 2010 the constituency of Harrow East. In the following years he was in May 1997 and June 2001, Assistant Whip of the Government Group in the House of Commons, before he then was first Parliamentary Private Secretary David Blunkett, the Minister for Education and Employment, and following from July 1999 Whip of the Government Group, and Lord Commissioner to the Treasury.

Government offices and resignation as Minister of State

Subsequently, he was in May 2002, first Parliamentary Under- Secretary, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and then in June 2003 the Ministry of transport and from September 2004 to May 2005 Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport. In May 2005 he became Minister of State in the Ministry of the Interior (Home Office ) and worked there until October 2008. During this time he served as Minister of State in particular from May 2005 to May 2006 in charge of immigration, naturalization and citizenship between May and June 2007 for security, counter-terrorism and police, and from August 2007 to October 2008 for security, counter-terrorism, Crime and Police Act.

In October 2008, he was Minister of State at the Department for Work and Pensions and was there initially to February 2009, responsible for welfare reform and Minister for London and inspected by Februar until June 2009, in charge of Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform, and Minister for London. In the wake of the scandal issue among British MPs and members of the government for wrongful spending on second homes and other services he performed on 5 June 2009 resigned from his ministerial office, where he had previously still defends these issues.

At the general election in 2010 he suffered a defeat against his conservative challenger Bob Blackman, of the constituency Harrow East captured 44.7 percent of the vote, while McNulty was only 37.6 percent, and in second place so lost his seat in the House.
