Tony Roche

Anthony ( "Tony" ) Dalton Roche ( born May 17, 1945 in Wagga Wagga ) is an Australian former tennis player.

He won at the French Championships in 1966 the title in the men's singles at Wimbledon in 1968 and was in the final. At the Australian Open he won in double 4 times the title (1965, 1967, 1971, 1976), at Wimbledon, he was in double 5 times successfully (1965, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1974). His doubles partner was John Newcombe. With their triumphs, they are among the most successful double at all.

The Davis Cup, he won the Australian team 1964-1967, 1974 and 1978.

After his career as a player, Roche became a coach. His most prominent protégé after Ivan Lendl Roger Federer was.

In May 2007, Roger Federer separated by Tony Roche. He then was hired in July 2007 by Lleyton Hewitt, who promised his help with the return to the top. The collaboration was completed in 2009, but resumed in November 2010.
