Tony Schmidt

Tony Schmidt ( born May 9, 1980 in Leipzig ) is a German racing driver.

Career

After Schmidt in 1996 was active in karting, Schmidt his formula racing career began in 1997 in the German Formula Renault, in which he finished third in his debut season. After eighth in this series he was in 1998, he finished a year later the third place in the overall standings. He also took part in several races of the German and Italian Formula 3 Championship. 2000 Schmidt put his focus on the German Formula 3 championship, finishing in 15th place overall. The following year, Schmidt remained in the German Formula 3 Championship and improved to tenth place in the overall standings.

In 2002, Schmidt in Formula 3000 on the German team PSM Racing Line. Schmidt did not make up the points, and was also beaten by his teammate, the Dane Nicolas Kiesa. 2003 Schmidt remained in Formula 3000 and joined the Belgian team Astro Mega. It succeeded the Germans at some races to score points and he finished the season in eleventh place overall. In 2004, Schmidt his third season in Formula 3000 in attack and moved to the newly founded German team Ma -Con Engineering, where he formed a team along with the experienced drivers Tomáš Enge. He could not keep up with narrow, it succeeded but again to score points in some races. At the end of the season, he finished tenth overall.

After Schmidt was found for 2005, no cockpit, he ended his motorsport career.

Personal

Tony Schmidt's younger brother Mike Schmidt was also active as a racing driver.
